The excitement builds alongside a perfect project build...

Several times I don’t even remember the ride home because I was so caught up imagining how it was all coming together – I certainly cycled quicker during that period than on a normal day and it was always worth it when I stepped through the front door

Chris Martin

When Chris Martin decided to extend the family home with an open plan living and dining area he initially thought that the architect would have the biggest influence on the result. When he met Steven Duffy of D & H Developments however, he realised that he had found a builder with a passion for design, far beyond that of any other that he had known. Steven’s comment during their first meeting, “I want to build you something that will still look sharp in 20 years’ time” spoke volumes to Chris and sealed his decision to choose D & H Developments.

As the project progressed, so did the excitement in the Martin household as they saw their dream grow and come to life step by step. Chris recalled his anticipation as he cycled from work each day, “several times I don’t even remember the ride home because I was so caught up imagining how it was all coming together – I certainly cycled quicker during that period than on a normal day and it was always worth it when I stepped through the front door”.

The strategic approach taken by Steven throughout the build really impressed Chris as he seamlessly filled the gaps between the architects’ drawings and the reality. This included adapting the original work program to suit some of Chris’ own ideas and a stove installation.

The two key objectives for Chris were to have a practical and great-looking living space for his family and to maximise the asset value that the extension added to the house if they were ever to sell it in the future. Both these considerations were over-delivered, in Chris’ opinion, in the shape of a beautiful one and a half storey glass gable extension with a level deck and frameless glass balustrade.
